About Us

Insurance is a free URL shortener with a library of plain-English insurance guides. We built it for people who want two simple things: short links that are easy to share, and insurance explained in words anyone can follow.

What we do

First, we shorten links. Paste a long URL, get a short link in seconds, and share it anywhere — in a message, on social media, or in print. It is free, and you do not need an account to read anything on this website.

Second, we write insurance guides. Insurance is full of jargon: deductibles, premiums, liability limits, exclusions, riders, waiting periods. We read the fine print so you do not have to, and we turn it into guides you can actually use.

What we cover

Our guides cover the types of insurance most people in the United States actually buy:

  • Car insurance — how much coverage you really need, how to compare quotes, and what full coverage actually means.
  • Home insurance — what a standard policy covers, what it does not, and how much it usually costs.
  • Life insurance — term vs whole life, how much coverage makes sense, and how to compare the cost.
  • Health insurance — how HMO, PPO, HDHP, and EPO plans differ, and how to choose on the marketplace.
  • Renters, pet, travel, and umbrella insurance — when each one is worth it, and when it is not.

Each guide explains how the coverage works, what it costs, and where it falls short. We include comparison tables so you can see the differences at a glance, and we answer the questions readers actually ask before buying a policy.

How we research

We start from the policy terms insurers publish themselves: coverage limits, deductibles, premiums, exclusions, and waiting periods. We compare those terms side by side, work through the math on realistic situations, and explain the result in plain words.

Insurance rates and rules change often, and they vary by state and by insurer. When something changes, we update the guide to match. If you spot something that looks out of date, please tell us through our contact page — reader corrections help keep every guide accurate.

Editorial independence

We write our guides from the policy features we describe in each article, not from payments by insurers. A policy earns a mention because of what it offers, and we say plainly when a type of coverage is not worth the money for most people.

What we are not

We are not an insurer, an insurance broker, or a licensed insurance agent. We do not sell policies, take applications, set premiums, or decide who gets covered. We also do not give personal financial advice. Our guides are general information to help you compare your options; the right coverage still depends on your own situation. If you need advice about your own circumstances, please speak to a licensed insurance agent or a qualified financial adviser.
